Department of Forensic Medicine
Introduction:
ACPM Medical College and the Department of Forensic Medicine came into existence in the year 1989. It is one of the important department of college as it handles the medicolegal issues. The department is mainly involved in teaching the second M.B.B.S students in the subject of Forensic Medicine. It also involve in teaching & training of postgraduate students from other disciplines with respect to medicolegal aspect of Medicine. The department play key role in scientific research. For intern students medicolegal training is conducted from time to time. The department play pivotal role inconduction of medicoliegal work of hospital smoothly by constant monitoring, training of hospital staff and timely advise is given as per the need.
Apart from teaching and research activities, the department also serves the community by conducting medicolegaltraining programmes for medical officers from rural areas. Advise is also given to the law enforcement agencies in any medicolegal matter.
Our motto is not only to provide the above mentioned services but to exceed expectations of students, healthcare providers and police department. The glorious history31 of years which were devoted to the betterment of students, health care workers & police force and was duly appreciated by the community many times.

Mission statement
• Provide excellent training to future doctors & medical practitioner on medico-legal aspect of Medicine with emphasis on medico-legal examination, sample collection, preservation & dispatch & Medical & Medico-legal documentation
. • To generate huge & meaningful research data in medico-legal aspect for future reference.
• Train the law enforcement agencies on investigation of medico-legal deaths with emphasis on collection & preservation of evidence & make them aware about newer techniques in medico-legal investigation.
Objective
• Develop the competent undergraduate & postgraduate doctors having deep knowledge of law in relation to practice of Medicine and also able to handle all types of medico-legal issues precisely and help the judiciary & law enforcement agencies for disbursement of justice.
• Improve the professional skills of the law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.
• Increase the awareness among the medical practitioners about Medical Jurisprudence.
Programmes Offered M.B.B.S. II Phase
Facilities
The department is well structured and equipped for effective learning of the Undergraduate students.
Lecture halls: The department has threemain lecture halls of the college available for UG teaching.
Demonstration room: The department has a adequately spacious demonstration room fitted with overhead projector &necessary audiovisual aids. It is utilized for conduction of tutorials and seminars.
Laboratory: There is a well equipped laboratory as per the curricula for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. The department has a fully functional laboratory which offers the facility to conduct tests which are essential in forensic investigations as well as for academic and research purpose.
Departmental Library cum Seminar Room:There is a well-furnished Seminar cum Library. The library is updated with books of basic subject.
Museum: The departmental museum is well planned and stocked. Numerous specimen, bones, skaigrams, photographs, weapons, models, charts, poisons, etc are on display.

Research
The Departmental faculty has to its credit of having accomplished successfully 11research projects of great forensic significance, 8 of which have been published in International, 1 in regional and2 in National scientific journals. The departmental faculty regularly guides students for research projects. The department also encourages research collaborations with other institutions.
Faculty of the department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, ACPM Medical College, Dhule is actively involved in research. Proposed research projects are given below.
1. Analysis of medicolegal cases admitted in ACPM medical college- retrospective study.
2. Age estimation by dental study.
