The department aims to provide state of the art health care to women on par with standards prescribed national health policy and to train the undergraduate and postgraduate students to acquire the competencies pertaining to Obstetrics and Gynecology. The department is making strenuous efforts toward achieving Excellence in training of MBBS and MS students as well as women’s health care throughout their adolescence, reproductive years and beyond. During postgraduate course, the department is thriving to trained MS students as a competent, responsible Obstetrician and Gynecologist to practice and flourish in an environment of socio-cultural and professional diversity. This is achieved by training, moulding, involving them in a stimulating, thought evoking academic environment, promoting self learning and by intermittently evaluating and assessing their progress.
The department has been actively involved in academic and research activities since its inception and a number of research projects have been completed and some are ongoing. There are periodical case presentation sessions, CME, local& state chapter conferences, simulation workshops organized by the department. The undergraduate and postgraduate students are assigned small projects and encouraged to present their findings in conferences.
The department is maintaining pace with advances in teaching-learning methods and upgrading from time to time. The teaching learning session used for undergraduate teaching includes experiential learning session, problem based learning sessions, simulation for various clinical skills, DOPA. Department has been provided with facilities to provide comprehensive women health care includes routine normal obstetrics, high risk obstetrics with advanced care, family planning, operative Gynecology comprises of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries, ultrasonography, preventive oncology and menopause disorders. Thus department is equipped with all the necessary infrastructural facilities to deal with patient’s complaints influencing women health from adolescences to menopause and beyond, health awareness programme, promotion of community participation in women health education and prevention of diseases like anemia, malignancies.

5 by 5 cm intramural fibroid in anterior wall showing whorled appearance and False capsule.

24. Adenomyosis.
Cut section of uterus suggestive of adenomyosis in the uterine wall. Thickening of myometrium and adenomyotic feature
25. Anencephaly Second trimester foetus along with Placenta and umbilical cord. Features suggestive of absence of scalp, protrusion of eyes, protrusion of tongue, spinal cord defect. This is a specimen of Anencephaly.
26.Intramural fibroid Large intramural fibroid in uterus with ovary and fallopian tube. Fibroid shows whirl appearance and capsule.
27. Fibroid specimen of uterus 15 by 10 cm with cervix suggestive of fibroid.
28. Subserosal Fibroid Specimen of uterus with cervix with ovary.
